Present for my piano teacher for Nicki Kurns
Nicki kurns is the pianist for choir that I have known since my 7th grade. Since then, she has always been a huge inspiration for my love for the different kinds of arts that include singing, traditional art, and digital art. We have made some of the best memories together as a class and as a friends. Since this is my senior year of high school, I wanted to make her a heartfelt drawing of her favorite flowers and her favorite quote as a thank you for being an amazing person. Before starting this art project I asked her what her favorite flowers are and what her favorite quote is. Her favorite flowers are roses, lilies, lily stargazer, and paperwhite narcissus flowers. Nicki told me that her favorite quote comes from her husband which is "If you don't ask, how can they say yes". The mix media that I used in this piece are colored pencils and colored pens. How I use this method of art is I color the flower first with colored pencils then I go over it with the same colored pens so the flowers can pop. This piece has line work, color, realism, texture, and shape. The master artist that was an inspiration to this piece is Vincent Can Gogh. He focuses on landscapes, self portraits, and floral art. His floral artwork helped me figure out how to use the correct proportions in my flowers that I drew. The current artist that inspired me was Mo Zhan and she focuses on landscape, line work, color, and shading. Her artwork helped me understand where the correct color placement should go when drawing flowers. Some things that I should improve on in floral art is to have patience when I'm coloring and to take things slow so I can have a better outcome of the color saturation.
